Microsoft unwraps another budget phone: Lumia 540 Dual SIM

Lumia 540

Following the first ever Microsoft-branded phone — the Lumia 535, and subsequently the Lumia 640 and 640 XL, here comes another budget-friendly device from Redmont — the Lumia 540 Dual SIM. The 5-inch dual-SIM, 3G device hits local stores for only RM569.

If you’ve been longing and impatiently waiting for the flagship Lumia running Windows 10, well, sorry this isn’t it. What the Lumia 540 Dual SIM is though, is for the young, value-conscious smartphone buyer looking for their first serious smartphone.

The Lumia 540 sports the signature, quality-crafted Lumia shell, 5-inch HD display (294PPI), 8MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and 5MP front-facing camera. It’s powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor bundled with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. The 2,200mAh battery should see the device last through the day.

There’s also plenty of goodies bundled in including Skype, Microsoft Office and 30GB of free OneDrive cloud storage.

It runs Windows Phone 8.1 and will support Windows 10 when it comes out later this year.

The Lumia 540 Dual SIM will be available in Malaysia from 19 June onwards, in cyan, orange, black and white.
