Just six months after shipping the first-ever Intel Core Duo processor-based MacBooks, Apple is shipping updated MacBooks – now sporting faster “Merom” Core 2 Duo Intel processors, up to 2.0Ghz. The new MacBooks are up to 25% faster than their predecessors and the 2.0Ghz models (including the delicious black one) feature double the RAM, dual-layer 6x SuperDrive (vs. single-layer 4x), twice-as-large 4 MB level 2 cache as well as bigger capacity hard drives.
The MacBook offers fantastic value for money, although I personally would not buy one until Apple introduces a ‘real’ GPU (graphics processor unit) to replace to crappy, under-performing 64MB Intel GMA950 graphics processor. Nonetheless, for users out there looking for a stylish, fast, affordable new portable, the MacBook is definitely a good option.
Prices start from USD1,099 (RM3,999 – RM4,099).
