Maxis introduces NeXT M1 smartphone, all-in-one bundle for MYR78/month

Maxis NeXT M1

As leaked a couple of days ago, Maxis has released a self-branded smartphone – the NeXT M1. The phone will be bundled with an all-inclusive new plan called Postpaid Starter Plan for just MYR78/month.

Details of the phone are scarce, but on the offset, it looks like something from the TCL factory. So, the resemblance to an Alcatel/Flash device is pretty uncanny.

Maxis has quoted “a mighty octa-core processor,” 13MP AF camera and 5.5-inch HD screen as key specifications. Keeping in mind the price point of the device, I’m guessing a MediaTek MT6752 or perhaps even a P10 (MTK6755)? We’ll know soon enough.

So, this all-new Postpaid Starter Plan bundled with the NeXT M1 comes with 4GB of 4G data and 50 minutes of calls every month. Note that the data quota is split into 2GB of weekday 4G data, and 2GB of weekend 4G data.

Some notes to be aware of: On weekends, the weekend internet will be used first if you are connected via 4G. If you’re not latched onto Maxis’ 4G network on Saturday and Sunday, you’ll use data from your all-day internet.

If you need more data, you can purchase daily mobile internet passes i.e. 500MB/day at MYR5, 1GB/day at MYR8, or 3GB/3days at MYR12 via the MyMaxis app or UMB.

In terms of roaming, you can use Maxis’ DataRoam pass at a flat rate of MYR38/day.

That’s not all. The NeXT M1 comes with a 24-month warranty, instant replacement, and also 6-month screen protection.

The NeXT M1 with the Maxis Postpaid Starter Plan will be available starting tomorrow, 3 March 2017. There is no upfront fee.

Maxis says the NeXT M1 will also be made available to MaxisONE Business and FlexiShare customers by the end of this month.

You can grab this offer at any Maxis Centre or Maxis Exclusive Partners, or buy it from the Maxis Online Store.
