Apple’s latest iPhone 11 series alongside the Apple Watch Series 5 hit stores in “Tier 1” countries like the US, UK, Australia, and Singapore today after pre-orders kicked off last Friday. It’s been a while since we’ve been hit by Apple mania at Apple retail stores, but this is exactly what happened at the Orchard Road Apple Store in Singapore.
Hordes of eager fans and customers queued from as early as the night before. As reported by the Straits Times, first in the queue at Apple’s flagship store at Orchard Road when the doors opened at 8AM was 39-year old Julian Cho.
Cho had pre-order his Midnight Green iPhone 11 Pro 64GB and arrived at around 7AM on Friday. He managed to jump to the head of the queue in front of several hundred people.
He told Straits Times that he had ordered four identical sets and three were still being shipped over. The reason he decided to queue was to collect and be the first to get his hands on the new iPhone.
Cho may have been first in line but it was Malaysian student Aidid Haiqal, 17, who emerged first out of the store with a Space Grey 512GB iPhone 11 Pro Max and a black 128GB iPhone 11.
Aidid said he also pre-ordered the phones and started queueing as early as 6AM. The iPhone 11 Pro Max is for his personal use while the iPhone 11 is for his sister. He travelled all the way from Kuala Lumpur to get his hands on the new phones.
The iPhone 11 series consists of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. In Singapore, the three models start from SGD1,149, SGD1,649 and SGD1,799 respectively.
For Malaysians, they’ll have to wait just a wee bit longer as the phone is set to hit retail channels on 27 September. Apple as well as the major telcos have announced pre-orders starting 20 September 2019.

The iPhone 11 comes in six new colours: Purple, Green, Yellow, Black, White, and (PRODUCT)RED.
Meanwhile, the flagship iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max offer Midnight Green Silver, Space Grey, and new Gold colour options.
