LinkedIn goes Lite and fast in 60 countries

LinkedIn Lite

The world’s largest online network for professionals (no, not Facebook, dummy)—LinkedIn has rolled out its “Lite” version in more than 60 countries globally, including Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia. LinkedIn Lite was first introduced in India. The lighter version focuses on speed and simplicity, to allow people even with poor connectivity access to career opportunities on the network.

LinkedIn currently has more than 118 million members in Asia Pacific, 22 million of which come from Southeast Asia. SEA remains the fastest growing region with 8 million in Indonesia, 4 million in the Philippines and 3 million in Malaysia.

Since the rollout in India, LinkedIn Lite has delivered tremendous value to its members. With lower connectivity requirements, the platform has seen more new members signing up, with job applications also growing significantly.

According to LinkedIn, more than half of new members sign up via mobile.

LinkedIn lite is available now via web and Android app. In integrates key features like newsfeed, profile, networks, messaging, and notifications.

It’s accessible virtually anywhere with a mobile connection (even on 2G networks) and an internet-capable mobile device. The Android app is less than 1MB in size, and LinkedIn claims data usage is reduced by as much as 80%.

LinkedIn Lite is available globally in more than 60 countries. You can access the LinkedIn Lite on mobile web at www.linkedin.com, or download the Android app in the Play Store. The full list of 60 plus countries where LinkedIn Lite is available is here.
