Lenovo ThinkPad P1 brings power to thin

Lenovo ThinkPad P1

There’s a new ThinkPad in town. Lenovo has just taken the wraps of the ThinkPad P1 – the thinnest, lightest and sleekest mobile workstation in the Think line yet.

The ThinkPad P1 is exactly what you’d expect from a ThinkPad. Understated looks, ultra-durable construction, powerful performance, and portability. And oh, the signature ThinkPad TrackPoint.

So how thin is thin and how light is light? The notebook tips the scales at 1.7kg and measures 18.4mm at its thinnest point. Mind you, we’re talking about the workstation here.

It isn’t just the notebook proper that has gone through a stringent diet program. Lenovo even shaved off some weight from the power supply. The P1 power supply is 35 percent smaller and lighter than predecessors.

As a ThinkPad, expect ultimate durability. The P1 has undergone some of the most stringent product testing including enduring 12 military-grade requirements and more than 200 quality checks.

The P1 rocks either a 15.6-inch 4K UHD (3840×2160) IPS touch display or FHD (1920×1080) IPS non-touch display, offering 100% of the Adobe colour gamut.

Under the hood it boasts 8th Gen Intel Xeon or Core processors, including support for the Core i9. This is mated to up to 64GB of DDR4 2667MHz RAM and up to 4TB of M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD.

In terms of connectivity, the device has built-in Intel 9560 802,11 a/c Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.

The P1 doesn’t hold back in terms of expandability either. The rich selection of ports includes two Intel Thunderbolt 3 (Type-C), two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type A), HDMI 2.0, mini Gigabit Ethernet, mic/headphone combo jack and optional smart card reader.
