Lenovo releases multi-layered Vibe X2 in Malaysia

Lenovo Vibe X2

Lenovo Vibe X2

Lenovo today unveiled the Vibe X2, its premium mid-range smartphone featuring a bold new multi-layered design language. Complementing the groundbreaking new aesthetics is the powerful 4G LTE-enabled MediaTek chip putting True Octa-Core power in your hands. The new device won a prestigious design award at IFA 2014 earlier this year.

The new Vibe is supported by innovative click-on cases called Vibe Xtension, which includes speakers with JBL sound and a battery extension pack.

World’s first multi-layered smartphone

The new layered design is interesting — slim and accented with bold colours. The layer of colours have harmonious shades with a smooth finish. Lenovo utilised robot arms and clean rooms and three coats of paint applied for each tone.

True Octa-Core power

Lenovo is the first global handset vendor to ship a smartphone with the latest MediaTek MT6595 True Octa-Core processor with 4G LTE. MediaTek’s processor platform has the ability to unleash the power of all eight cores simultaneously unlike rival octa-core processors. This brings superior multi-tasking performance and sustained performance-per-watt. This also translates to better battery life on the Vibe X2.

Xtending the Vibe

Carrying the multi-layered concept even further is the Vibe Xtension click-on cases. The two Vibe Xtensions that will be available are the Vibe X2 Battery and Vibe X2 Speaker.

The Vibe X2 battery is incredibly thin at just 5.1mm thick, extending the battery life of the X2 by up to 75%. An auxiliary micro-USB port simultaneously charges the case and device.

The Vibe X2 Speaker is the first click-on speaker in the market, enhanced by JBL tuned hi-fi sound. It features a hands-free stand, wireless Bluetooth connectivity and a built-in battery good for up to 5 hours of audio playback.

Pricing and availability

The Lenovo Vibe X2 is available now priced at RM1,199.00 (US$343).
