It has been rumoured that Malaysia’s big iPhone 5 launch would be circa end of October, depending on availability of stock, in tandem with launches in India and a few other countries. A leaked program listing at Mid Valley Megamall, a huge destination mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, revealed a Maxis iPhone 5 promotion. Maxis is Malaysia’s leading telco and usually hosts big iPhone launch events.

A couple of days ago, Apple officially announced a November 2 launch date for India, Mexico, Greece, the Dominican Republic, Thailand, Bulgaria, Croatia, Malta, and Romania. The iPhone 5 will also launch in China later this December. The Cupertino tech giant also announced that Indian users will be able to purchase App Store content in native rupees currency as opposed to US dollars as before.

According to LiewCF.com, a leading Malaysian tech blog, Maxis has reserved North Court in Mid Valley Megamall for a “Maxis iPhone 5 Promotion” from 5-11 November. It is cited  that Maxis is currently hiring iPhone 5 promoters to work at the KLCC Maxis Centre.

Traditionally, Maxis iPhone launches land on Fridays. A Monday launch breaks tradition, although it is still possible for a special media launch on November 2.

The details at least point to a November launch, and other major telcos should follow suit.
