Here’s a nifty new way to shop. Lazada has introduced a new feature to its mobile app – Image Search, powered by artificial intelligence (AI). When you take a picture of an item you want, Lazada will suggest similar items available on the platform. The new feature rolls out just in time for the Lazada 27.9 Shopathon, taking place on 27 September 2018.
With over 8 million downloads of the Lazada app, the leading online shopping platform is constantly looking for new ways to enhance customers’ online shopping experience. Lazada says that close to 70 percent of online purchases by smartphone users are made via mobile apps.
Image Search is super easy to use. Simply tap the camera icon labelled “Scan” on the top left of the app. Simply snap a photo or select an existing image from your gallery. The AI-powered image search engine will recognise the scanned item and the app will display suggested items for purchase.
Having tested it with various items, I found it quick and easy. It’s not 100 percent accurate, and works better in portrait orientation, but it should get better as more users use the feature.
Lazada Shopathon 27.9
Mark your calendars because the Lazada Shopathon will offer amazing deals, promotions and vouchers on 27 September 2018. There will be a couple of key highlights:
Slash It
Featured products will have slashed prices starting from as low as MYR0.10. This will cover categories like DIY & Outdoor, Health & Beauty, Bags and Travel, and more. Tap on the “Slash It” button next to an item you want, and initiate a slashing session. Then tap “Invite Your Friends to Slash,”and when you hit the number of required slashes, you’ll get the item for the slashed price.
Crazy Flash Sales
Crazy MYR1 flash sales will happen six times during the Shopathon on 27 September: 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, 6PM, 9PM and midnight. Before the flash sessions proper, you can check out the products on offer and tap the “Remind Me” button so you’ll get a push notification before the sales start.
Up to MYR2 million in collectible vouchers
Who doesn’t like vouchers? Lazada will be offering collectible vouchers on the 27.9 Shopathon main page. Snap up these vouchers by simply tapping on them. Vouchers are available from 24 September onwards, so start collecting before the Shopathon. Vouchers allow you enjoy discounts without you needing to remember codes. Once you’ve tapped on vouchers, they’ll be collected in you Lazada Wallet.
