In an unprecedented move, two technology giants – Intel and Samsung have come together to launch the new Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 10.1 LTE (P5220) tablet, now powered by the Intel Atom Z2560 processor (“Clover Trail+”). The new tablet also comes integrated with Intel’s XMM 6262 3G modem or XMM 7160 4G LTE solution.
Intel continues to push its muscle in the mobile space, spearheaded by the high performance, low-power Intel Atom platform. The dual-core Intel Atom SoC now in the GALAXY Tab 3 10.1 LTE provides double the compute performance and 3x graphics capabilities, and improved battery life compared to the previous generation Intel Atom platform.

The Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 10.1 LTE is Samsung’s third generation consumer tablet, part of the highly-popular and growing GALAXY family of devices. The new tablet continues the GALAXY design language with its polycarbonate exterior, measuring in at 243.1 x 176.1 x 8mm and weighing at 510g.
It features a 10.1-inch Super AMOLED (1280×800 @ 149PPI) display, 3.15MP main camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 32GB storage (expandable to 64GB via microSD), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, A-GPS with GLONASS and USB 2.0. Samsung has packed a whopping 6800mAh battery into the new tablet. The new Tab 3 runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The Intel Atom Z2560 is rated at 1.6Ghz, built on the 32Nm manufacturing process, and comes with 1GB RAM onboard.
The integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator provides immersive and realistic 3D gaming experience, 1080p Full HD video playback and supports advanced camera features like face recognition, mobile HDR and panorama. Clover Trail+ offers dual-core performance alongside Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, which supports four simultaneous application threads for seamless multitasking.
Intel’s XMM 7160 is one of the world’s smallest and lowest power multimode-multiband LTE solutions. It supports 15 LTE bands simultaneously, offering cost efficiency, extended battery life and global LTE roaming in a single SKU. It supports applications across smartphones, tablets and Ultrabooks. Intel will start shipping multimode data 4G LTE in the coming weeks following final interoperability testing (IOT) with Tier 1 service providers in North America, Europe and Asia.

The Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 10.1 Wi-Fi version is available now for RM1,299 at all Samsung retail stores and authorised Samsung resellers. The 4G LTE version will be coming in weeks, priced at RM1,599.
