Go big for less with Huawei Y9s

Huawei Y9S

After teasing it earlier, Huawei has officially announced that its value-for-money Huawei Y9s will be available from 29 November at the price of MYR999. The device boasts a big, notchless 6.59-inch FullView FHD+ display and comes with 6GB RAM + 128GB of storage.

The cousin to the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) and the just-launched Honor 9X, the Huawei Y9s offers big features for a little under MYR1,000. Most importantly, the device comes with Google Mobile Services and apps out-of-the-box; running Android 9 Pie and EMUI 9.1 on top.

The phone comes in an elegant polycarbonate body with 3D arcs, offered in Midnight Black and Breathing Crystal.

Housed in the sleek body is the 6.59-inch FHD+ FullView Display that boasts an impressive 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. The notchless design is made possible thanks to a now common auto pop-up selfie camera.

Speaking of cameras, the main camera setup consists of a 48MP f/1.8 main shooter, 8MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth camera. Up front, there’s a capable 16MP f/2.2 pop-up selfie shooter.

Under the hood, the Huawei Y9s is powered by the Kirin 710f chipset paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Keeping this juiced is a large 4,000mAh battery that charges via USB-C.

The device retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that takes just 0.3 seconds to unlock the phone.

Pricing and availability

The Huawei Y9s is available for purchase now at all Huawei Experience Stores, Huawei official retail stores and Huawei’s online store. It retails for MYR999.

For a limited time, Huawei is offering a free Huawei Band 4 worth MYR139 for each purchase of the Huawei Y9s. Whilst stocks last.
