The punch-hole display (or in-display camera) is set to be the next big thing of 2019. Following the Honor View20, another smartphone with the unique display is coming to Malaysia – the new Huawei nova 4.
Huawei Malaysia sent out media invites for the official launch slated for 16 January 2019. Details are scarce on the device specs, although if the China model is any indication, it could be offered in two variants – one with a 48MP main camera, and the other a 20MP unit. Both will feature triple camera setups like the Huawei P20 Pro.
Aside from the massive 48MP (or 20MP) main camera, the nova 4 will pack a secondary 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens and a third 2MP f/2.4 depth camera for bokehlicious shots. On the front it gets a massive 25MP f/2.0 AI-powered selfie shooter.
Externally, the Huawei nova 4 isn’t too different from the current nova series, or its flagship sibling, the P20 series.
The phone will sport a large 6.4-inch Full HD+ FullView Display and will run last year’s flagship processor – the Kirin 970. It will come with 8GB of RAM and a generous 128GB of storage.
It will feature a fairly large 3,750mAh battery that charges via USB Type-C. Huawei will bundle a 9V/2A fast charger with the phone.
The phone will run Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.0.1 on top.
In China, the 48MP model retails for CNY3,399 (MYR2,058) while the 20MP variant sells for CNY3,099 (MYR1,876). Not cheap certainly for a device family that’s supposedly mid-range. But perhaps the specifications and build can sway consumers.
