HP today unleashed its latest gaming notebooks – the OMEN 15 and OMEN 17 – engineered for performance and looking the business, too. The duo features VR-ready NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with MAX-Q Design, 8th Generation Intel Core and an advanced cooling system, amongst other goodies.
In terms of design the new OMEN by HP Laptops are edgy without being typically over-the-top, finished in matte black with red accents.
Offering 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch display options including 144Hz 100p, 60Hz 1080p and NVIDIA G-Sync configurations, expect stunning, tear-free visuals on your AAA titles.
It’s not all visuals of course, there’s Bang & Olufsen tweaked speakers including a discrete amplifier. For gamers who prefer to immerse themselves with a headset, DTS Headphone X technology offers simulated surround sound for the additional touch of realism and immersion.
Under the hood, the OMEN notebooks are powered by 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processsors with up to six cores and up to 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz memory. This is coupled with a VR-ready NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GPU with MAX-Q Design.
The notebooks offers a host of storage options including SS, HDD, SSD + HDD, and even HDD + Intel Optane memory for added acceleration.
Heat management is crucial in a gaming rig, and the OMEN 15 and 17 boasts new cooling gear including larger fans, a 3-phase motor, and fluid dynamic bearings for less friction and more consistent fan speed. Also, vents at the back and bottom of the notebooks pull in cool air, while the rear corners act an exhaust for performance-robbing hot air. Select configurations also included expanded vent areas on the bottom to increase airflow.
The cool thing about the OMEN notebooks is that they’re easy to upgrade. All you need is a Phillips-head screwdriver to access storage and memory located at the base of the notebook.
HP’s powerful OMEN Command Center software now comes with OMEN Game Stream, which gives gamers the ability to stream gameplay to other Windows 10 devices.
