Honor MagicBook priced to kill at under MYR2,300

Honor MagicBook

Honor is introducing its first-ever notebook PC—Honor MagicBook in Malaysia with a bang. The cousin to the Huawei MateBook D 15 is lightweight, live-wire, powerful, and costs just under MYR2,300.

Pricing and availability

The Honor MagicBook is offered in a single configuration—with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB of SSD, officially retailing for MYR2,299. This undercuts its Huawei cousin by MYR200. The notebook will go on sale at 12AM, 8 April on Hihonor, as well as Honor’s official e-commerce stores on Shopee, Senheng, and SenQ.

Each purchase will come with free gifts worth up to MYR1,019, which comprises an Honor MagicWatch 2, Bluetooth wireless mouse, and a Honor Laptop backpack (while stocks last)*.

*Shopee is giving out Honor Laptop backpack, Bluetooth wireless mouse, and Honor Soundtone Bluetooth Speaker (limited to 30 units).

Be quick though, I reckon these are going to fly off the shelves instantly.

Honor is also having its Honor Fansgiving 2020 event with plenty of exclusive deals, offers, and freebies. It runs until 12 April 2020.

Features and specs

The features and specs may look familiar to you if you’ve seen the Huawei MateBook D 15. The display is an inch smaller, though—a 14-inch FHD IPS LCD (1920×1080) FullView display with thin 5.2mm bezels on the sides.

The device weighs just 1.45kg and is offered in Space Gray.

The all-metal chassis houses a powerful AMD Ryzen 5 3500U mobile processor and Radeon Vega 8 graphics, mated to 8GB of DDR4 2400MHz dual-channel RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.

The full-size, spill-resistant chiclet keyboard is spacious and offers three-levels of backlighting.

The MagicBook also features a specially-designed fan with a copper exterior coupled with a hidden air outlet for enhanced airflow and cooling.

Next, the notebook comes with a USB-C port, 2x USB-A (USB 3.0 + USB 2.0), a HDMI port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

In the connectivity department, it boasts dual Wi-Fi antennas (2×2 MIMO) supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 and a fingerprint sensor built into the power button.

Expect all-day battery life with the MagicBook’s substantial 57.4Wh battery that charges via USB-C. Honor bundles a 65W USB-C power adapter in the box.

The notebook features quad-speakers enhanced with Dolby Atmos audio technology.

For multi-screen collaboration, it comes with Honor Magic-Link 2.0 which lets you connect and share data with a compatible Honor or Huawei smartphone.

The notebook comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Home and a two-year warranty.
