Honor 8X Launch Livestream

Honor’s latest mid-range device is launching in Malaysia today. The beautiful, affordable Honor 8X has impressed many since its reveal in China last month. The good news is that Honor Malaysia is giving you the chance to take one home today.

Honor Malaysia is putting up two Honor 8X and 10 Honor Band A2 for grabs. How do you win one? Easy, just watch the Honor 8X Launch Livestream and drop a comment.

You can comment as many times as you want about the launch event. Content needs to be relevant and creative, so don’t spam OK?

The big Malaysian launch happens at 2.30PM, today, 9 October 2018.

Together with the Honor 8X, the new Honor Band 3 will make an appearance too.

The Honor 8X is the latest in honor’s stable of affordable, well-packaged devices. It’s made from 2.5D textured Aurora Glass over an aluminium frame, and it’s amazing that honor is offering this at the device’s anticipated sub-MYR1,000 price point.

For those who love an expansive screen, the Honor 8X is perfect – with a massive 6.5-inch LCD display (2,340×1080) with a 19.5:9 screen aspect ratio.

What’s amazing is that the device boasts a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio, one of the highest in the industry, and certainly the highest in its segment. Honor calls this “FullViewDisplay 2.0.” Call it what you want though, it’s pretty awesome.

Honor is also touting the Honor 8X’s TUV Rheinland certification, the first smartphone screen to receive this certification for blue-light filtering.

Under the hood, you’ll find the unabashedly mid-range octa-core Kirin 710 chipset, the same innards as the Huawei Mate 20 Lite. The processor is backed by 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage (based on China specs) and comes with GPU Turbo support out-of-the-box.

There’s a massive 3,750mAh battery and that should give you plenty of juice to last the entire day. It charges via microUSB sadly, and does not feature fast charging.

The honor 8X gets a dual-lens camera setup on the rear – a 20MP + 2MP (depth) for bokehlicious photos. The front-facing camera is a 16MP shooter. Both camera systems get the benefits of honor/Huawei’s AI-boosted capabilities.

The Honor 8X runs EMUI 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
