Honda Malaysia dealers, showrooms now fully operational

Honda Malaysia has announced that effective 13 May 2020, all its dealerships have commenced full operations and showrooms are reopened. The Japanese carmaker assures that preventive protocols have been put in place and strictly implemented across all Honda dealership nationwide. Its sales office and manufacturing plant will be resuming operations in stages during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period.

The company continues to emphasise the importance of safety and hygiene measures with the facilities at premises sanitised according to prescribed schedules. This is to ensure customers’ peace of mind when they visit any dealership.

Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Mr. Toichi Ishiyama said, “Honda Malaysia highly appreciates the hard work of all frontliners and cooperation of Malaysians that have helped flattened the curve. Most of the business sectors are allowed to open with conditions including the automotive industry are also coming back into operation and we look forward to contribute to the nation’s economy. However, we cannot rest on our laurels and need to continue to be attentive and adhere to the rules and regulations announced by the government during CMCO period. Even as our dealers commence operations in full, we will continue to emphasise customers and associates’ safety by practising social distancing as well as following the safety practices and guidelines. We have implemented strict precautions for everyone’s wellbeing, as we would like the customers to continue to experience the Joy of Buying at our dealerships with peace of mind. All Honda sales and service advisors are required to adhere to the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and at the same time, we hope all our customers will follow the guidelines announced by Ministry of Health (MOH) and accept the new normal as the nation cautiously kick start the economy “Together As One”.”

Aside from the preventive measures implemented for its after-sales service operations which recommenced on 4 May 2020, Honda has activated these precautionary measures at all its dealerships nationwide:

Showroom visit (car viewing)

Upon arrival at any dealership, customers must undergo temperature screening and must use the hand sanitiser provided at the entrance before entering the showroom. Individuals recording a temperature of 37.5C and above or exhibiting symptoms of fever, cough and shortness breath will be advised to leave the premises to immediately seek medical attention.

The customer flow has been restructured to have only one entrance and one exist for a more effective check-and-control process. High traffic or frequently used areas such as the door handles and washrooms are sanitised and disinfected on a regular basis daily.

Additionally, face masks will be provided to customers upon entrance to the showroom. Both customers and Honda sales advisors are required to don face masks. All display cars in the dealerships are cleaned using certified sanitisers regularly every day.

Sales advisors are required to adhere to the recommended social distance of 1m from customers during the explanation on the exterior of Honda vehicles. For interior features of the car, the sales advisors will always sit in the rear seat to maintain social distancing.

Customer test drives

All test drive cars are sanitised using certified sanitisers before and after each test drive session, with particular attention to frequently touched areas and accessories including steering wheel, switches, dashboard, door handles, and car keys.

Gloves are provided to customers, and both customers and sales advisors must wear face masks and gloves throughout the test drive session. For social distancing, the sales advisor will always sit in the rear seas while the customer is conducting the test drive.

Booking a Honda car

Customers are encouraged to make payment directly to dealership’s account via e-payment to minimise contact with common items such as table, stationery, and Point-of-Sale (POS) Terminal. Honda has also enabled online renewal for car insurance, for added convenience.

New car delivery

Understandably, receiving a new car is an exciting event for both dealers and customers. However, in view of the current situation, the company advises customers to limit guests present during the new car delivery occasion to just one person to avoid overcrowding. Each car is thoroughly sanitised before handed over to the customer.

Honda after-sales services and Honda Cars warranty extension

It is compulsory for customers to make an appointment for their car service at Honda dealerships. Stringent preventive measures such as crowd control and social distancing are enforced at all times. The number of customers present at any one time for car service is limited at minimum capacity.

General precautionary measures at dealerships

Temperature checking is implemented on all employees and everyone is reminded to wash their hands regularly.

All Honda sales and service advisors are required to practise social distancing by maintaining a distance of 1m from one another at all areas.

Hand sanitising stations at key areas in all dealerships have been set up. In addition, the windows and doors are opened every 30-60 minute to ensure good ventilation while the Kids Zone and café remain closed for the time being.

Honda has also prepared educational materials on prevention guidelines and these are available at reception counters and every discussion table for all associates and customers.
