Maxis has announced its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Gokhan Ogut, will officially take over from interim CEO Robert Nason. Ogut’s appointment will take effect on 1 May 2019. He is currently Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Prior to joining Maxis in September 2018, Ogut ran his own consultancy firm offering management and marketing consultancy services in Europe and the Middle East, out of Istanbul, Turkey.
He also served at Vodafone Turkey between 2009 and 2016 where he held several senior positions including chief marketing officer, chief consumer business officer and chief executive officer.
Aside from the telecommunications industry, Ogut also held senior and management roles in several FMCG companies such as Danone and Proctor & Gamble.
According to SoyaCincau at a media gathering with Maxis on 19 February, Ogut shared that the company aims to be the leading convergence services company in Malaysia.
The company will leverage on the strength of its 4G network, and wants to offer fibre internet to everyone in Malaysia. As part of its convergence strategy, it will focus on core services like enterprise, entertainment and security.
