As many would already know, Sony Mobile recently launched their new flagship smartphone in their Xperia series, the Sony Xperia Z. With a review unit in hand, the Sony Xperia looks to be a good contender to the upcoming HTC one and Samsung Galaxy S4.
At first glance, the all black Sony Xperia Z couples simplicity with a sleek and unique design. The team got its hands on the Black version of this ‘superphone’ and boy is it sexy. Before we get ahead of ourselves however, I would like to point out of few issues this phone may face, which will be put to the test during our review.
Firstly, like many other smartphones, the Sony Xperia Z doesn’t look like it will vent heat very well, due to its glass back and rubberized corners, so we’re expecting it to have heating issues during heavy usage. Secondly, battery issues will definitely impact the review, considering that it will be packing a 5″ Full HD screen, 13 MP camera and a quad core processor – three very distinct power hungry components in any smart phone.
The Xperia Z will also include a number of software enhancements, notably the Sony Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2 which increases image quality and brightness, a sure battery drainer when not used sparingly.
The other main highlight of the Xperia Z is it’s water resistance and dust resistance which will definitely be put to the test. (30 Minutes in a meter of water)
