Dyson Pure Cool Me delivers purified air into your space

Dyson Pure Cool Me

It was a big day for Dyson on Wednesday as it unveiled three new machines that make our lives better. Joining the coolest vacuum cleaner on the planet–the Dyson V11 Absolute and the enlightening Dyson Lightcycle task light–the Dyson Pure Cool Me personal purifying fan. Made to send a steady stream of purified air to your personal space, the new air purifying fan harnesses Dyson’s expertise in fluid dynamics, air filtration, light sensing, and acoustic performance.

When we talk about pollution, we often refer to outdoor pollution. However, indoors, where we tend to spend up to 90 percent of our time in, is where we are exposed to unseen pollutants and allergens. Whether sleeping, working, studying, eating, or playing, the air we breath plays a vital role in our wellbeing.

In the bedroom, where we can spend up to one third of our lives, there may be VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) ranging from personal care products like cosmetics, hair spray, perfume, or scented candles.

In the kitchen, there may be VOCs from cleaning products; gas hobs and other cooking processes release particulate matter, fumes and odours. Carpets tend to collect dust and allergens. Not forgetting our indoor (and outdoor) pets.

This is where Dyson Pure Cool Me comes into play–to capture pollutants and deliver cleaner air within your personal space.

At the core of the Dyson Pure Cool Me personal purifying fan is Dyson Core Flow technology. The revolutionary technology is inspired by the aerodynamic properties in the Harrier Jump Jet.

Dyson engineers discovered that when two jets of air meet on a convex surface, the air converges to create a high-pressure core and a focused stream of air. Harnessing this phenomenon, they developed a way to project a stream of precise and focused air to not only cool you but to deliver cleaner air to your surroundings.

The unique design lets you adjust the dome at the top of the machine to precisely control the angle of the airflow. The machine also features 70 degree oscillation for even more customisation.

The unique HEPA filter captures 99.95 percent of ultrafine particles including pollen, mould spores and bacteria; activated carbon absorbs and traps gases, odours and household fumes such as VOCs.

The filter will trap even the tiniest of particles, down to 0.1 microns in fact–300 times narrower than a human hair.

You’ll be amazed at how quiet the Dyson Pure Cool Me is. Dyson engineers took the task of acoustically engineering the machine to be as quiet as possible, seriously. Speaking of which, a total of 120 engineers developed 2,022 prototypes of the machine and sub-assemblies during development.

A layer of acoustic attenuation foam in the base of the machine absorbs excess noise from the motor.

Dyson’s acoustic engineers conducted more than 1,000 tests in Dyson’s semi-anechoic chamber, measuring both sound volume and sound quality. And they test this 20cm from the machine. You need to hear it (or don’t hear it) to believe it.

The Dyson Pure Cool Me is also smart–it has an intelligent light sensing system that actively tracks ambient light. It automatically dims or brightens the built-in LCD screen in real time, to blend in with the surrounding environment.

When it detects that the space has become dark, it turns off the LCD screen. There’s also a sleep timer that you can set to turn off at pre-set intervals, ranging from 30 minutes to eight hours.

The LCD screen will also remind you when the filter needs changing. With an average use of eight hours a day, the filter needs to be changed every 12 months.

The purifying fan comes with a magnetised remote control that can be stored neatly on the front of the machine.

As with all Dyson products, the Dyson Pure Cool Me is built to last– around 366 mechanical tests have been conducted to ensure the machine will stand the test of time.
