Dropbox, the online storage company, has announced that it has surpassed 100 million users. The fast growing cloud-based storage service saw its user base quadruple last year.

The milestone is deemed important for startup Dropbox, to stay ahead against tech giants like Google, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft, who themselves have their own cloud storage offerings.

Dropbox has said that they are not worried about competition, as they believe they are well ahead in the game. The service enables people to save/access files from anywhere, regardless of platform, whenever they needed it.

The startup raised $250 million in venture capital last year, bringing its valuation to $4 billion.
