Alongside the new EOS M50 interchangeable lens mirrorless camera, Canon also introduced the EOS 1500D and EOS 3000D DSLR cameras to the Malaysian market. The two entry-level cameras are aimed squarely at students in the communications and creative fields, and general users who are starting out in photography.
With DLSR ergonomics and a signature Canon DSLR design, the EOS 1500D and EOS 3000D are feature-packed yet lightweight.
They’re powered with a DIGIC 4+ image processor, featuring commendable 24.1MP and 18MP APS-C sensors respectively. Definitely not run-of-the-mill hardware.
The cameras have an ISO range from 100 up to 6400 (expandable to 12800), which allows for low noise images even under low light conditions.
Both cameras are capable of a continuous shooting speed of 3fps. In terms of autofocus, they use a familiar 9-point cross type contrast detection autofocus system.
Stills aren’t just what these entry-level babies are good at, they’re just as good with video, able to shoot Full HD 30p/25p/24p.
The EOS 1500 packs a 3-inch TFT non-articulating display (approx.. 920K dots), while the EOS 3000D gets a 2.7-inch TFT (approx. 230K dots).
To guide users, the cameras have a built-in Features Guide that offers hints and tips to improve their photography techniques.
Various Scene Modes and Scene Intelligent Auto take the guessing game out of fiddling with controls to get the right setting. Whether it’s for a portrait, landscape, night or food, these built-in modes help users express their creativity with optimised shoot settings.
To be even more creative, users can apply Creative Filters like fish-eye, soft focus and toy camera to their photos, straight in the camera.
For connectivity, the EOS 1500D and EOS 3000D come with Wi-Fi and NFC for easy file transfer to devices, and for remote shooting via the Canon Camera Connect App.
