ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 to go on sale starting 12.12

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2

It’s only been six months, but ASUS is set to announce the successor to its popular ZenFone Max Pro M1 smartphone. Being decoupled from the main ZenFone line, the Max series has the benefit of being more agile and quicker to update. From what I gather from leaked specs and imagery on the web, the upcoming ZenFone Max Pro M2 is going to go head on with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, Realme 2 Pro and perhaps even the honor 8X. The great thing is, Malaysians won’t have to wait long. It’s coming next Wednesday, 12 December.

If ASUS is to follow through with its aggressive pricing strategy of the ZenFone Max Pro M1, we’re likely to see discounts at launch. Presumably, Lazada Malaysia will be an exclusive partner, as before. The leading e-commerce retailer has put up an official sale page but with a dummy MYR9,999 price tag. Lazada’s notorious for leaking prices before launch, so perhaps keep your eyes peeled early next week for prices.

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2Leaks have been rife since around a month ago. The new phone launches in India and Indonesia on 11 December, a day before the Malaysian debut.

WinFuture.de leaked press renders of the ZenFone Max Pro M2 earlier. It looks like ASUS has ditched the metal body on the predecessor and gone for a glass/plastic body with a wavy motif.

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2ASUS has confirmed that the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will come with Gorilla Glass 6 protection, one of the world’s first.

The phone is expected to sport a 6-inch Full HD display with a notch, and powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 660AIE chipset coupled with up to 4GB and up to 128GB of storage.

Expectedly, the phone will have a massive 5,000mAh battery like its predecessor, and ASUS is said to continue to position the Max Pro as a gaming device.
