If exceptional battery life and camera performance is what you’re looking for in a smartphone, then the new ASUS ZenFone Max Plus may be perfect for you. The ZenFone Max Plus squeezes a large 5.7-inch Full View Display into a compact 5.2-inch body, and packs a impressive 4,130mAh battery. Photo enthusiasts will also love the dual-camera system on the rear.
ASUS has always impressed with its ZenFone Max Series, packing high-capacity, long-lasting battery. Previous generation Max series phones like the ZenFone Max, ZenFone 3 Max, ZenFone 4 Max and ZenFone 4 Max Pro have achieved combined sales volume of around five million units.
The new generation ZenFone Max Plus continues the good fight for stamina, packaged neatly into a premium metal body with 2.5D curved edges. The 18:9 screen ratio and ultrathin bezels help give the new device an impressive 80% screen-to-body ratio. The HD (1440×720) IPS display delivers an impressive 400cd/m2 of brightness.
Signature of the ZenFone Max series is of course the huge battery capacity. The high-density, high-capacity 4,130mAh battery offers up to 26 hours of standby time, 26 hours of 3G talktime, up to 21 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi, or up to 13 hours of video playback.
Having been using the ZenFone 3 Zoom for some time, which is also equipped with a large battery, I can attest to the ZenFone’s longevity.
The cool thing about the ZenFone Max Plus is that you can also use its massive battery to charge other devices via OTG.
The ZenFone battery has gone through twelve safety checkpoints to ensure safety and long-term performance. This includes temperature monitoring and overvoltage protection, combined with automatic maintenance settings.
Under the hood, the ZenFone Max Plus uses the MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor mated to 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
There’s no doubt that the ZenFone series has also carved quite a name for itself in the photography department. The ZenFone 3 Zoom remains one of my favourite smartphones for photography. The ZenFone Max Plus includes massive 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera, and an advanced dual rear camera setup.
The selfie camera also supports Face Unlock, an alternative solution to the rear fingerprint sensor for unlocking the phone.
The 16MP PixelMaster main shooter comes with a fast f/2.0 aperture lens with PDAF, and the secondary camera has a 120-degree wide-angle lens that has a 200 percent wider field of view than standard smartphone cameras.
The dual-SIM, dual-LTE device supports storage expansion via a dedicated microSD slot.
The device runs ZenUI 4.0 based on Android Nougat.
