ASUS 360 camera

ASUS 360 camera is a USD130 add-on for your smartphone

At the launch of the ZenFone 4 range in Taipei today, ASUS sneakily previewed a 360-degree camera called simply the ASUS 360 camera. The golf ball-like add-on plugs in to a smartphone and gives it the ability to shoot 360-degree photos, videos, panoramas and more.

You may find it looks familiar, and I wouldn’t disagree with you if you said it looks like the Samsung Gear 360 (first gen), or the honor VR camera add-on.

Looks aside, it works pretty much the same way as the honor VR. It’s equipped with two cameras on either side, both sporting wide-angle lenses that enable 210-degree FOV.

It captures 4K photos (4096 x 2048) and 2K videos (2048 x 1040). Additionally, it also shoots asteroid, fisheye, panorama and VR footage, as well as supporting live streaming via YouTube, Facebook and more.

All you need to do is download and install the ASUS 360 camera app from Google Play, plug in the camera and off you go. Things you shoot go straight into your smartphone’s gallery.

And by the way, the camera supports micro-USB and USB Type-C connectivity. It comes with a micro-USB to USB Type-C adapter.
