Apple on Tuesday updated the MacBook Air, adding True Tone to its Retina display and lowering the price down to MYR5,699. The entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro gets a refresh with the latest 8th Gen Intel quad-core processors, with a lower price of MYR5,499. The company in one fail swoop cleaned up its MacBook line, removing the four-year old MacBook ultraportable as well as non-Touch Bar MacBook Pros.
Just in time for the school holidays, the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are part of Apple’s Back to School promotion. University students can purchase the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro for MYR4,299 and MYR5,099 respectively.
That’s not all, Apple is including a pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones with each purchase of a qualifying Mac notebook or iMac.
Apple says that its notebooks have never been more popular in higher education, with Student Monitor data showing nearly 60 percent of US college notebook buyers own a Mac.
The thin and light MacBook Air features an iconic wedged design in three beautiful finishes–Space Gray, Gold and Silver. It weighs just 1.25kg and is just 15.6mm at its thinnest point.
It sports a 13-inch Retina display with True Tone that automatically adjusts the colour temperature of the display for a more comfortable viewing experience.
Powering the svelte notebook is the 1.6GHz dual-core 8th Generation Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost (up to 3.6GHz), coupled with 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 128GB of SSD storage.
It comes with Touch ID for quick and secure authentication, Force Touch trackpad and two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The notebook offers up to 12 hours of battery life.
