Apple has released an updated MacBook Pro, now powered by 8th- and 9th-generation Intel Core chips, putting eight cores to its pro notebook line for the first time. The MacBook Pro is claimed to delivery two times faster performance than a quad-core MacBook Pro and 40 percent better performance than a 6-core MacBook Pro. It’s officially the fastest Mac notebook, ever.
Whether you’re compiling code, processing high-resolution photos, rendering 3D graphics, or editing multiple streams of 4K video, the new MacBook Pro will be sure to take it all in stride.
The 15-inch model comes equipped with faster 6- and 8-core Intel Core processors, delivering Turbo Boost speeds of up to 5.0GHz.
On the other hand, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar features faster quad-core processors with Turbo Boost speeds up to 4.7GHz.
Here’s how the 15-inch MacBook Pro with 8-core processors compares to the fastest quad-core 15-inch MacBook Pro:
- Music producers can play back massive multi-track projects with up to two times more Alchemy plug-ins in Logic Pro X.
- 3D designers can render scenes up to two times faster in Maya Arnold.
- Photographers can apply complex edits and filters up to 75 percent faster in Photoshop.
- Developers can compile code up to 65 percent faster in Xcode.
- Scientists and researchers can compute complex fluid dynamics simulations up to 50 percent faster in TetrUSS.
- Video editors can edit up to 11 simultaneous multicam streams of 4K video in Final Cut Pro X.
The new MacBook Pro retains the stunning Retina display with 500 nits of brightness, support for P3 wide colour gamut and True Tone technology.
That aside, the new notebook also packs stereo speakers, Touch ID, Touch Bar and a large Force Touch trackpad.
The 15-inch MacBook Pro offers Radeon Pro Vega GPU options, too—the first discrete mobile Vega GPU in a notebook.
In terms of storage, the MacBook Pro comes with blazing fast SSD storage, configurable to up to 4TB (2TB on the 13-inch).
It also comes equipped with the Apple T2 Security Chip for enhanced security, Thunderbolt 3 ports for data transfer, charging and connecting up to two 5K displays or four external GPUs.
The new MacBook Pro runs macOS Mojave, the latest Mac desktop operating system. Learn more about Mojave here.
