AnandTech founder Anand Shimpi quits journalism, joins Apple

Wow, this is certainly huge news this week. If you’re a tech head, then you should be familiar with AnandTech. If you’re not, you’re not a tech head. The tech site is the authority for reviews and benchmarks of processors, motherboards and myriad PC components, operating since 1997.

And now, the site’s founder and editor Anand Lal Shimpi has dropped a bombshell: he’s retiring as a journalist, and joining Apple Inc.

Being one of tech journalism’s most authoritative and respected figures, one must wonder what the move entails. He’s expected to focus on device engineering, and will join a fellow AnandTech team-mate, Brian Klug, who was the site’s senior smartphone reviewer and now also at Apple.
