Adobe MAX 2017: What to expect

Accestra - Lenovo

Adobe MAX is back, and this time round, lands itself in Las Vegas, Nevada. It promises to be the biggest MAX yet—a massive congregation of creative heads from all over the world. We’re taking designers, artists, photographers, filmmakers, web and mobile developers, audio specialists, and everything in between. I’m chuffed to have the opportunity to attend this creative conference again, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in three days of learning, sharing and creative inspiration.

MAX rocks San Diego

Last year’s MAX at San Diego was pretty epic. I got to catch the likes of the legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino; inspiring photographer Lynsey Addario; fashion design Zac Posen (that dress!); artist and sculptor Janet Echelman; and more.

Actor and comedian Jordan Peele hosted MAX Sneaks, the most looked-forward segment at MAX where Adobe previews new technology and ideas brewing in Adobe’s labs.

There were of course new product announcements headlined by Adobe Sensei; Project Felix, the groundbreaking 3D tool for graphic designers; Adobe Experience Design CC (XD); Adobe Spark; Project Nimbus as well as key updates to Adobe’s various platforms.

What’s cool about MAX is the hands-on lab and track session hosted by Adobe and industry experts. They cover everything from Creative Careers, Graphic Design & Illustration, Photography & Creative Imaging, Video and Web & App Design. Last year, the 11,000 attendees booked a total of 79,000 breakout sessions. Epic.

Adobe MAX 2016

The Biggest MAX yet

This year’s MAX offers two-days of preconference labs, running from 16-17 October 2017. Subsequently, the conference proper will run from 18-20 October and will cover breakout sessions, labs, creativity workshops, the Community Pavilion as well as evening events like Sneaks and Bash.

On day one, Adobe is expected to announce latest releases and updates for Creative Cloud during the opening keynote. Expect some surprises!

On day two, keynote speakers will share their passion and creative journeys and they include Annie Griffiths, photojournalist; Jon Favreau, actor/director; Jonathan Adler, potter/designer and Mark Ronson, musician (yes, THE Mark Ronson!).

If you can’t attend MAX, don’t worry. You can catch the two kenotes live at

Off stage, there’ll be plenty happening at the Community Pavilion where you’ll be ablee to catch marquee brands in tech and creativity namely CDW, Dell, HP, Google and Microsoft. Their booths will feature hands-on experiences, and cool swag to take home.

I’m looking forward to demos of top features and new updates to Adobe products, especially for apps I use the most: Photoshop CC, Lightroom CC, Premiere Pro CC and Acrobat CC. Interested also to see developments with Project Felix as well as further updates to Adobe XD and Adobe Spark.

If you’re a fan of the hit HBO series “Silicon Valley,” then you’ll be chuffed to know that Kumail Nanjiani, who plays Dinesh, will be hosting MAX Sneaks with Adobe’s own Paul Trani. I love Sneaks, and I think everybody else does too!

Adobe MAX 2016

Well, the night doesn’t end there. There’s MAX Bash. A big, quirky, awesome party. There’s plenty of food and drinks, distinctive art installations and awesome music. This year, the main stage will be occupied by Saint Motel, a native LA band who recently released the first-ever Virtual Reality album.

To top it off, Grammy-award winning Mark Ronson will be rocking the stage. I can’t wait.
