The Acer Liquid Z410 first appeared at CES 2015, and finally made an official appearance in Malaysia last month. Sitting in the middle of Acer’s Liquid range, the sub-RM500 packs plenty of kit including dual-SIM support and 4G LTE. Catch the unboxing below and some first impressions.
In the design department, Acer has caught the attention of the industry, winning awards for design, specifically for its unique textured back. The slightly curved back feels good in the hands. While it’s a budget device, it doesn’t stop it from being considerably thin at 9.9mm and weighing in at just 145g. It’s overall well put together, and certainly looks and feels more expensive than it is.
The Liquid Z410 sports a 4.5-inch qHD display that pushes 245PPI, sufficiently bright and sharp. Under the hood, the venerable 64-bit quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6732 processor is tasked to provide the compute power, while mated to a Mali-T760MP2 GPU. It gets a barebones 1GB of RAM, not uncommon at this price point, and 8GB of storage. You do get microSD expansion, don’t fret if you find the base storage insufficient.
Keeping it juiced is a large 2,000mAh battery which delivers 5.5 hours of talktime and up to 400 hours of standby.
The 4G LTE connectivity is a big plus, as is the dual-SIM support.
Camera optics come in form of a 5MP f/2.4 snapper with LED flash on the rear, and a 2MP front module for selfies. Acer has thrown in plenty of tricks and camera wizardry into its camera app including voice activation, Dual Shot, Picture-in-Picture and Video-in-Video. Go cray, why don’t you.
It’s interesting to note that there’s a AcerRAPID key right below the rear camera module that can activate the camera, amongst other functions.
This isn’t the end of the Liquid Z410’s bag of tricks, though. There’s also DTS Studio Sound that brings a more immersive audio experience via the Liquid Z410’s front speakers. Let’s just say, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
There’s plenty more Acer-developed features including AcerEXTEND and Acer Quickmode that bring connectivity and ease-of-use to users.
The Liquid Z410 runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat, with Acer’s Liquid UI on top.
Available now, the Liquid Z410 retails for just RM459 inclusive of GST. It’s available in a single colour — Berry Black.
Initial impressions
There’s no denying that Acer plays the value card well. The Liquid series cleverly hits different price points and audience. You’ve got the Liquid Z220 on the lower rung, and all the way up to the Liquid Jade Z. If you’ve only got RM500 to spend, then the Liquid Z410 will give you 4G LTE (dual-SIM too), a decent 4.5-inch display, 64-bit processing power, good battery life and some impressive audio quality.
Overall, more than decent performance and it runs Android KitKat too.
