The Lenovo Yoga is a category-defining product, spurring many copycats since its introduction. At IFA 2016, Lenovo took the wraps of the new Yoga 910, an evolution and refresh of the Yoga 900. Here are 10 things you should know about the convertible notebook.
#1 All-metal, uber thin design
If you were looking for some sort of polycarbonate on the new Yoga 910, you’re not going to find it. The Yoga 910 sports an all-new, all-metal unibody and it’s crazy thin. 14.3mm to be exact. The world’s thinnest yet one of the most powerful convertibles around in fact. It’s a little heavier (1.38kg vs 1.3kg)) than its predecessor but only just, thanks to its metal build and bigger display.
#2 13.9-inch display
A 13.9-inch? Absolutely. Call it an engineering marvel, but Lenovo has managed to squeeze a 13.9-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) or Full HD IPS display into the Yoga 910’s svelte body.
It boasts an almost-not-there 5mm bezel, optimizing screen real estate.
What you’ll notice is that the front camera has been moved below, to make it more optimum for viewing.
#3 7th Gen Core I power
Under the hood, the Yoga 910 is powered by the latest 7th Gen Core i7 “KabyLake” processor. So no more of that Core M nonsense. You get up to 16GB of memory, and 1TB PCIe SSD for no-holds barred performance.
#4 A better hinge
Made up of 800 individual stainless steel parts, the enhanced watchband hinge is extraordinary, The mechanism is now even smoother, making it easier for you to switch modes that suit you.
Call it fashion statement if you will, but the hinge simply works. And it works well.
#5 Hello finger, goodbye password
Passwords are so passe. With the Yoga 910, you can unlock with a touch of your finger, thanks to the new superfast fingerprint reader. You can use this with Windows Hello.
#6 The keyboard’s better
Lenovo took feedback from customers (yes, I was screaming too) and listened. The keyboard on the Yoga 900 and Yoga 900s left a lot to be desired. Unnecessary right-handed shortcut keys made things cramped, including the BackSpace and Shift keys.
Thankfully, all is good on the Yoga 910. Key spacing and travel is good, with good key activation.
And by the way, based on customer feedback too, the glass touchpad is now noticeably larger.
#7 Premium audio
The Yoga 910 comes with JBL stereo speakers, enhanced with Dolby Audio Premium. Dual array mics with noise cancelling technology delivers clarity when you Skype.
#8 Great battery life
With great power comes… great battery life. Despite the more powerful Core i7 processor, the Yoga 910 still delivers up to 9 hours of battery life, ensuring you’re productive the whole day.
Pricing and availability
The Yoga 910 starts at 1,499euro/MYR6,846 include VAT, available starting October 2016. It is available in Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver and Gunmetal Grey.
