HyppTV, Telekom Malaysia’s (“TM”) IPTV service running on top of its broadband and mobile platforms is getting the (re)boot for something better (hopefully). Following the rebranding of webe, HyppTV and HyppTV Everywhere will operate under a different name.
It’s no longer Hypp, now what?
If you’re currently a HyppTV subscriber, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Aside from the name change, nothing fundamentally changes. There will be no changes to your package subscription, nor your monthly charges.
The name change may not be reflected in your bill immediately, as the rebranding will be done in phases.
Similarly, your HyppTV login id remains unchanged (“[email protected]”) so nothing needs to be done on your end.
TM is unifying (pun intended) its products and services to operate under a single “unifi” brand with the goal of offering the best experience to its customers. From a branding standpoint, it makes complete sense.
A monolith brand will be instantly recognizable although it may take some time for it to sink in, from a consumer perspective.
As a primer, HyppTV (now unifi TV) offers a digital TV experience with video on demand and interactive applications. Some TV series are made available within 24 hours from when it is aired in the U.S.
Fans of live sports will be able to enjoy various live sports channels (with the exception of EPL, which is available, elsewhere).
The great thing about HyppTV is that it works even when it rains, since it rides on TM’s own unifi fibre network.
HyppTV Everywhere, on the other hand, is an add-on service that allows subscribers to view HyppTV content via mobile devices and PCs.
