OPPO F5 joins 18:9 Full View Display party

OPPO F5

OPPO is surprising late to the scene, but it looks like it will finally have an entry in the 18:9 Full View Display party with the upcoming OPPO F5. The new “Selfie Expert” has been revealed in a promo video in the Philippines and is set to launch on 26 October 2017.

The smartphone world is all abuzz with dual-cameras and near bezel-less displays, thanks in part to the Samsung Galaxy Note8 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. But it’s the Huawei nova 2i, vivo V7+ and Wiko View will push adoption in the mid-range and value segments.

A video by ABS-CBN Lifestyle in the Philippines shows beautiful models taking selfies with the OPP F5. It clearly shows off the 18:9 near bezel-less screen, which is expected to be six inches. Resolution is unknown, but it will likely be Full HD.

OPPO looks to be sticking to a single camera setup on both the front and back. Rumoured specs include a 20MP rear camera, and a 16MP dual camera on the front. 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and possibly Snapdragon 660 power and a 4,000mAh battery.

Design-wise, OPPO isn’t reinventing the wheel and is sticking to pretty much a familiar overall design.

At the Star Magic Ball 2017 on 30 September, ABS-CBN artistes were seen totting the new OPPO F5. Celebrities were seen taking selfies with the device in their respective social media channels.

When will the OPPO F5 reach Malaysian shores, I wonder?
