Huawei Mate 9 Pro gets big price cut & free gifts

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro is now available through DirectD with a lower price tag. How low? Read on to find out.

 

With the price slash, the former flagship Mate 9 Pro (plus other free gifts) is now MYR2,899. That’s MYR400 less than the original asking price of MYR3,299.

What else do you get along with your new Mate 9 Pro?

Just a quick recap, the Mate 9 Pro is one of three Mate 9 devices in the lineup. It sits in between the base Mate 9 and the high-end Porsche Design Mate 9. The latter costs MYR6,999.

The Mate 9 Pro comes with a 5.5-inch AMOLED curved screen display (1440 x 2560 pixels, 534 ppi).

It runs on Huawei’s own octa-core Kirin 960 processor. There’s a single storage configuration offered here in Malaysia, and the Mate 9 Pro comes with 128GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM. However, no micro-SD card slot is available.

As for the camera, the primary shooter consists of a 20MP monochrome + 12MP RGB dual camera setup with f/2.2 aperture and Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). It of comes with Leica-branded optics. The selfie camera meanwhile, is an 8MP shooter with f/1.9 aperture.

The Mate 9 Pro comes with a 4,000mAh non-removable Li-Po plant. Huawei says that it can last up to a whole day (2 days if light use).

The Mate 9 Pro uses USB Type-C and supports fast charging and can give a whole day’s worth of charge in just 20 minutes, according to Huawei.

It comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and can be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo in the near future.

As for colour options, two shades are on offer – Titanium Gray and Haze Gold.

Take your pick. So, is this offer enough for you to head to the store? It certainly is for me.
