One of the most important questions asked by us Malaysians on a daily basis is “Have you eaten?” or “Sudah makan?” Or the more invitational “Jom makan!” or “Let’s eat!” If there was a single force that truly unites the country, it’s undeniably food and the love of food (close second is badminton and football!). On that note, eating out, especially for busy urban dwellers can be challenging. What with traffic jams, lack of parking spaces and long queues at restaurant. Here’s a piece of great news: Uber Eats is here in Kuala Lumpur!

You may have heard about Uber Eats in other countries, the closest being our southern neighbour Singapore–delivering “yummilicious” food to people all around the world. Well, Kuala Lumpur is the 10th Asian city to get Uber’s dedicated food service, after Seoul, Bangkok, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Singapore. UberEATS is currently available in over 100 cities across 27 countries.

Uber Eats officially goes live on 21 September 2017. Now you can enjoy your favourite food all by a touch of a button!

In short, Uber Eats is Uber’s stand-alone meal delivery app that makes getting food as easy as getting a ride. Whether you’re at home, at the office or even at the park. Uber Eats connects you to a wide range of local restaurants and food, so you can order from the full menus of your local favourites whenever you want. Uber is expanding its delivery partner to deliver food to hungry customers who can track their order, customise their drop off, and use the same account to get rides.

Currently, the available restaurants on the app consists of a mix of local Malaysian favourites along with other Asian cuisines and Western delights from the Kuala Lumpur-based partners. As of now, active restaurants within the platform are Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa, Inside Scoop, Sitka Restaurant, Devi’s Restaurant, and Mikey’s Original New York Pizza. There are over 200 partners restaurants available at launch.

Uber Eats will begin serving KL neighbourhoods (Kuala Lumpur central business district, Bangsar, and Damansara Heights) from 9.00AM till midnight all seven days a week. But of course, there are plans to grow quickly in the near future. Now, payment is made through either credit and debit cards with expected delivery time of 35 minutes.

There will be a MYR5.00 delivery fee and no minimum order. Not to worry, UberEATS is working with JAKIM to ensure the delivery methods meet halal requirements.

Three things I require in this modern era. A flamboyant ride to stand out of the crowd, an absolute power plant in my hands and lots of Brazilian coffee. Also, Netflix and chill is my motto.
