OPPO A57: The budget “Selfie Expert” is coming to Malaysia

OPPO A57

There’s no denying OPPO hit the right spot with its “Selfie Expert” range of smartphones – OPPO F1, F1 Plus and F1s. Malaysians love taking selfies, and now OPPO Malaysia is set to bring in another selfie-centric smartphone. This time, a budget, compact device – the OPPO A57.

The OPPO A57 will satisfy the lower end of the market, packing plenty of kit and a familiar design.

It sports a 5.2-inch HD IPS display that’s protected by Gorilla Glass 4. Internally, it uses an octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

You could say it’s the baby brother of the OPPO F1s, and it’s certainly pretty similar specifications-wise. In fact, it sits nicely between the OPPO F1s and the lower end 5-inch OPPO A37.

Living up to its selfie-focused reputation, it packs a whopping 16MP f/2.0 front camera, complemented by OPPO’s Beautify 4.0 software. On the rear, it packs a 13MP f/2.2 shooter with PDAF.

For selfies, you can use the signature palm shutter function. Just open your palm in front of the screen, and the camera will take the perfect selfie for you.

Keeping it juiced is a 2,900mAh battery. It is claimed to deliver up to 11 hours of continuous video watching, 23 hours on the phone, or about 13.5 hours of mixed use.

The device runs ColorOS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The OPPO A57 is available in Rose Gold and Gold.

No prices revealed yet, but if prices of the A37 (SRP: MYR668) and F1s (SRP: MYR1,198) are any indication, expect the OPPO A57 to be around MYR998-MYR1,098.
