Huawei and Leica join hands to reinvent smartphone photography

Huawei Leica

Huawei’s global ambitions and it carving itself into a premium brand is taking a further positive step – it’s playing nice with Leica. The long term partnership with the iconic Red Dot brand will see both embracing the art of craftsmanship, engineering and technology.

It’s been a phenomenal journey for Huawei, going from zero to the world’s third largest smartphone maker in a couple of years. In 2015, it sold more than 100 million phones – the first Chinese company to achieve the feat.

It also has the distinction of being the first ever Chinese brand to appear on the prestigious Interbrand Best Global Brands list in 2014. A testament of its growing brand acceptance. It shot to #88 in 2015 whilst launching its flagship products – Huawei Watch and Huawei P8, both stylish, premium products.

The partnership will be mutually beneficial – Leica will gain Huawei’s wide customer base; while Huawei in turn, will benefit from Leica’s premium imaging expertise. Huawei’s future products will undoubtedly benefit from Leica’s optical expertise, and masterful craftsmanship.

As a Leica fan, this long term collaboration is mouth-watering. I can’t wait for a Huawei phone featuring Leica optics and craftsmanship.
