Microsoft Surface Pro 4 hits Malaysia

Microsoft Surface Pro 4

How do you top the success of the Surface Pro 3? Well, you simply make it better. The best Microsoft tablet to date – Surface Pro 4 – is now in Malaysia. The new convertible notebook is 30% more powerful than its predecessor, quieter, cool and boasts up to nine hours of battery life.

Microsoft enjoyed great success with the Surface Pro 3 last year, and looks to continue the winning formula with the Surface Pro 4. The latest tablet drives the same value proposition and Microsoft’s vision of the form factor. It’s still very much the premium portable that’s versatile and productive, and packs a mighty punch in performance.

Speaking at the launch event, Michal Golebiewski, chief marketing and operations officer, Microsoft Malaysia said that the Surface Pro 4 is the perfect device for millenials in Malaysia. Based on an Asia-Pacific survey, Asian youths under the age of 25 showed that 15% of millennials already own a 2-in-1 device.

Two talented local artists displayed their work at the media launch – graffiti artist Muhammad Fakhrul Akmal aka Mile09; gifted savant artist Delwin Cheah. Both use the Surface Pro 4 to conceptualise and design their artwork.

The Surface that you love, now even better

The Surface Pro 4 is housed in a sleek and durable magnesium case and boasts an impressive array of ports – USB 3.0, microSD card reader, Mini Display Port. The much-loved kickstand with its full-friction multi-position hinge is standard feature.

At 8.4mm thin, it’s thinner than its predecessor and weighs just 766g (for the Core m version, 786g for Core i).

The 12.3-inch Full HD IPS PixelSense Display (267PPI) is bright, sharp and vibrant; supporting 100% sRGB colour. The 3:2 aspect ratio is perfect for general viewing and note-taking.

Powering the benchmark device is the new Intel 6th Generation Core m3 or Core i5/i7 processors. Helping it fly in the graphics department is a choice of Intel HD graphics 515/520 and Intel Iris Graphics 540. Built-in memory is up to 16GB RAM.

In terms of storage, you’ll get a host of SSD PCIe 3.0-based options: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB.

Connectivity-wise, there’s 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. The built-in battery is claimed to give you up to 9 hours of battery life for video playback.

What’s nice are the stereo speakers with Dolby audio, and stereo mics built-in.

The redesigned Surface Pen features 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity and comes with a magnetic strip that lets you conveniently store it on the side of the Surface Pro 4.

The pen feels very good and seems very accurate when used to write or draw. Coupled with OneNote, you get the perfect note-taking device.
