With massive batteries the Lenovo Vibe P1 and P1m have power to last

Lenovo Vibe P1

Great news for you power-hungry always-on mobile users. You no longer need to scramble your powerbanks because Lenovo has just unveiled two new smartphones with impressive battery capacities. The Vibe P1 and Vibe P1m are claimed to last you up to 45 hours of talktime, and up to 30 days in standby time. Impressed yet?

The new Lenovo Vibe P1 packs an impressive 5,000mAh battery, one of the biggest capacity batteries in its class. It will not only last throughout the day, it can also be used to charge another smartphone or USB-connected devices via OTG (On-The-Go) Charging.

Additionally, there’s also a convenient physical power saver switch that instantly enables power saving mode. The special mode lets you select up to six apps to be featured on the simplified home screen.

Vibe P1

The Vibe P1 is powered by the 64-bit 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, the same power unit that drives the Lenovo PHAB Plus. It gets 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Despite being a budget mid-range device, the Vibe P1 surprisingly comes with an embedded fingerprint scanner on the home button. It also comes with NFC for easy pairing with other smart devices and accessories.

Supporting 4G LTE, the single-SIM smartphones takes standard micro-SIM sized cards.

In the camera department, the Vibe P1 packs a 13MP rear camera with fast-focus PDAF technology. On the front, a 5MP selfie camera should assure some good-looking selfies.

It doesn’t disappoint in the looks and build department either. Sporting premium metal and glass design, there’s a subtly curved rear metallic cover that makes the phone look more expensive than it actually is.

The 5.5-inch Full HD display 401PPI) is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

The Vibe P1 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with an almost stock-like Vibe UI custom interface.

Vibe P1m

Vibe P1m is a smaller version of the P1 with several key differences. Lenovo engineered the P1m to be “life proof,” giving it splash-proof capability via a nano-coating.

It’s powered with a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. The 5-inch display is only a HD display (294PPI) but visual quality seems adequately sharp and bright.

The device is 4G LTE capable, dual-SIM where SIM slot 2 can be used for microSD storage expansion.

The P1m also boasts a massive battery – 4,000mAh, enough to power you through more than a day.

Pricing and availability

The Vibe P1 retails for MYR1,199 and is available in Platinum and Graphite Grey. The phone goes on sale at authorised retails stores starting 19 November 2015.

The Vibe P1m is priced at MYR649 and is available in Onyx Black and Pearl White.

The Vibe P1m is available for purchase via Lazada.MY starting today, and will be available in authorised retail stores in December. Just so you know, Lazada is throwing a MYR50 off limited time offer for this device.

Initial thoughts

Lenovo continues to create value-for-money, purposeful products. The Vibe P1 is a solid product, packing plenty of goodies for little money. The massive battery is a huge plus point, complementing other hardware features which are surprisingly good too

The Vibe P1m is made for the budget-conscious, packing much of the goodness of the P1 but at a lower price point.

Two great, value-packed products by Lenovo, IMHO.
