Huawei, Vogue China and Fornasetti reveal special edition Huawei watch at Milan Fashion Week

Fornasetti for Huawei

Looks like Huawei is taking both premium wearables and fashion seriously. It has just unveiled its first special edition watch, styled by renowned Italian designer Barnaba Fornasetti. The watch was presented as a gift for guests of the Vogue China tenth anniversary celebrations at the closing of Milan Fashion Week.

The Fornasetti-designed watch is the result of a unique collaboration between Huawei, Vogue China and Fornasetti that marries art, design and modern technology.

Fashion meets technology

The watch includes an exclusive Fornasetti design watch face that features the iconic Fornasetti “Team e Variazioni” motif. It comes with a watch strap and accompanying box that’s designed using classic green “Malachite,” a typical colour in Fornasetti’s designs. The box also showcases the recognisable Fornasetti keyhole.

The Fornasetti brand dates back to the 20th century and was started by Piero Fornasetti, styled as a ‘designer of dreams.’ Fornasetti’s legacy is now carried by his son, Barnaba who perpetuates the brand’s tradition by continuing to produce and re-invent Fornasetti designs.

Classic, formal beauty and timeless

The “Tema e Variazioni” motif is inspired by 19th century Italian opera singer Lina Cavalieri.

The Huawei Watch features a circular 1.4-inch touch-sensitive AMOLED display, coated in scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass, and a cold-forged stainless steel frame. Underneath its beautiful exterior is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 mated to an Adreno 305 GPU and 512MB of RAM. There’s also 4GB of built-in storage.

The beautiful watch packs Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity, a heart rate sensor and a 6-axis motion sensor. The watch runs the latest Android Wear 1.3 (based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop). Its 300mAh is good for a whole day’s worth of active use.
