Lenovo A7000 lands in Malaysia, world’s first smartphone with Dolby Atmos

Lenovo has just launched its latest A-series smartphone — the Lenovo A7000, the world’s first smartphone with Dolby Atmos audio technology built in. The 5.5-inch device also boasts Android 5.0 Lollipop running on MediaTek True8Core processor with 4G LTE. The latest smartphone goes on sale from 20 May 2015 for RM699. Through an exclusive partnership with Lazada Malaysia, you can pre-register the Lenovo A7000 starting today, for RM625.

Dolby Atmos

Dolby Atmos, first introduced in cinemas, has now been extended to phone users. You get a richer, more immersive sound experience whether listening to music, watching videos or playing games.

Paired with a good set of headphones, audio from the A7000 will be more vivid, with better clarity, richness and depth. voices and noises will also have a better dynamic range from highs to lows.

Lenovo A7000

Apart from its impressive audio prowess, the Lenovo A7000 boasts a 5.5-inch HD IPS display and packs MediaTek’s MT6752 1.5GHz True8Core processor mated to 2GB RAM. Storage is a minimal 8GB, however you can upgrade via microSD.

The phone is well put together, measuring a slim 7.9mm at its thinnest and weighs just 140g. Available colour options are Onyx Black and Pearl White.

On the camera front, an 8MP Sony-sourced unit powers the rear and a 5MP HD selfie cam occupies the front.

Lenovo A7000

Android lovers will be chuffed to know that the A7000 comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Keeping the phone running the whole day is a challenge for smartphones these days, so Lenovo packed in a big 2,900mAh battery into the A7000.

There’s also OTG support so you can connect thumbdrives or USB drives (via microUSB) to do high speed data transfers on the go. Apparently you can even use the A7000 as a powerbank to charge other phones with it. Interesting.
