Hai-yaaa!

Some of you may have heard or played Dofus, the tactical turn-based MMORPG. The same renowned French games developer and publisher Ankama Games has now brought Wakfu, a follow-up of Dofus, to Malaysia.

Wakfu is a highly-anticipated online tactical turn-based MMORPG, and the brand has quickly made its way into a board game, anime, trading cards and comic series. In fact, you’ll find some Dofus/Wakfu figurines and board game in Borders, the local retail book chain.

Wakfu is developed by French games developer and publisher, Ankama Games; in North America, Wakfu is published by the famed Square Enix, the people who also brought you  hits like Tomb Raider, Deux Ex and the Final Fantasy series.

So what’s Wakfu all about?
Wakfu is set almost 1,000 years after the Dofus era, where the fearsome ogre Ogrest has left The World of Twelve in ruin and chaos. However, new heroes are emerging to rebuild the shattered world. It isn’t an easy task, and hence you need to choose wisely – whether to be a fighter, a politician, merchant or artisan.

Starting your journey
The first bit of the game is where you hone your basic skills and grasp what the game is all about in Incarnam. You’ll need to visit different ‘dojos’ where you will learn how to fight and use different spells and techniques. It does need getting used to. You’ll also learn how to harvest seeds, grow plants – all secrets to Wakfu’s ecosystem.

You’ll need to complete specified tasks including the penultimate fight with the Wodent King at the end before you can be reincarnated and head to Astrub for the real world of Wakfu.

See you in Wakfu
If you’re online (and if I happen to be online), find me using the username vernieman74. I’ll be fighting weird creatures, harvesting, running errands for a certain Pappy Pal and trying not to get lost. It’s a wonderful, vast world, so see you there!
