Apple today announced its new Retina Display-only MacBook Pro lineup of notebooks with latest 4th Generation Core Intel “Haswell” processors. Apple had recently refreshed its MacBook Air and iMac product lines with Haswell processors as well.

The new MacBook Pros will come powered with the just released OS X 10.9 Mavericks update which offers a slew of new features and enhancements.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro is thinner, lighter, cheaper and lasts longer than previous generation MBPs. At just 0.71-inches thick and slightly over 1kg in weight, the new notebook also packs 9 hours of battery life with Wi-Fi that’s three times as fast (802.11ac support). The MBP sports a 2.4Ghz Intel Core i5 with 4GB RAM, Iris Graphics and 128GB SSD storage. Prices start from US$1,299 (approx. RM4,599).

The 15-inch MacBook Pro also gets new Intel Haswell 2Ghz Core i7 chips, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage, Iris Pro graphics chips, Thunderbolt 2 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Prices start from US$1,999 (approx. RM6,999).

What’s glaringly missing are optical drives and non-Retina Display MacBook Pros. We say ‘yay’ to that.
