AMD Malaysia today launched the 2013 Elite A-Series Accelerated Process Unit (APU) for desktops, codenamed “Richland”, in Malaysia. The new APU portfolio, first showcased at COMPUTEX Taipei 2013, delivers increased performance, discrete-level graphics and easy upgrade infrastructure.

The new APU series combines AMD “Piledriver” CPU architecture with AMD Radeon HD Series graphics on the FM2 motherboard infrastructure, ensuring peak performance and platform longevity. The platform offers unprecedented flexibility with support for existing A85X, A75, and A55 platforms as well as future FM2+ motherboards.

The APUs deliver up to 779 GFLOPS of computational performance and also feature maximum clock speeds of over 4Ghz for next generation computational needs.

The Elite A-Series utilises the latest AMD Radeon HD 8000 Series graphics, combining CPU and 384 Radeon parallel processing cores to offer up to 15% increase in graphics performance over its predecessor – “Trinity”, winner of the 2012 Best Choice of COMPUTEX TAIPEI award.

When paired with DDR3-2133Mhz Radeon Memory Gamer Series memory, the A-Series APU will deliver up to 13% performance increase over DDR3-1866Mhz memory.

AMD’s APU is the fastest growing category of processors for AMD and powers the latest Sony Playstation 4 and Microsoft XBox One, aside from the new generations of notebook, tablets, desktop PCs, low-power servers and embedded devices.

Synonymous with gaming performance and the gaming industry, AMD also signed a sponsorship agreement with DOTA gaming team Invasion MUFC at the launch.
