Team “U Are Dead” Are First Tanks Asia Masters Open Season Champions

18th May 2013 – Wargaming.net’s first World of Tanks: Tanks Asia Masters Open Season Grand Finals concluded today with team U Are Dead being crowned the first Tanks Asia Masters Open Season Champion, here at MBK Mall, Bangkok, Thailand.

The Hong Kong team U Are Dead took an early lead of 3 – 0 in the best of seven finals, however, Taiwan’s Night Eagles almost made a come back, winning two games in a row before U Are Dead stopped them in their tracks with the final score of 4-2. Besides being crowned the first Tanks Asia Open Season champions, this event set a number milestones, the first open air tournament finals done by Wargaming.net and also the first time a World of Tanks finalist made a marriage proposal on stage after winning a tournament.

Right after being announced and being congratulated as the champs, Tang Chun Wai, 29, of team U Are Dead proposed to his girlfriend, Chan Ka Yee, 24, right after the group photo, to her surprise and to the surprise of the spectators, media. Team U Are Dead takes home the first World of Tanks: Tanks Asia Masters Open Season trophy with USD50,000 while Night Eagles take home USD30,000 as the runner-up.

All in all, it was still an impressive display by Wargaming, a test of endurance for the finalists and a fairly interesting evening for everyone there, besides the fact that it was 39 degrees Celsius.
