On ‘Singles’ Day’ 11 November 2015, online shopping marketplace 11street threw a Korean-inspired celebration event at Lot 10. Although just eight months old, the website is already the Top 40 Malaysian website in terms of traffic (Alexa, 2015). To celebrate and thank its customers for their support, 11street has announced the biggest giveaway of the year – up to MYR11 million in terms of deals and coupons (up to 90% discounts).
The marketplace also took the opportunity to unveil new strategic plans for its mobile app and signature ‘Shocking Deals.’ 11street has chosen the 11th of each month as its ‘LOVE 11’ Day to bring great deals and giveaways to shoppers.
In Korea, 11 November is an annual event to show affection to loved ones.
What you can expect from 11street in 2016
The site’s ‘Shocking Deals’ and its lowest price guarantee (LPG) has been highly popular, and thus 11street plans to double the variety of product listings by early 2016. 11street shared that they’ve received close to 0% of claims for its lowest price guarantee refund which shows how well Shocking Deals are doing.
According to Nielsen, 47% of Malaysians shop using the smartphones. This trend continues to grow rapid with Malaysia now ranked sixth out of Top 10 markets globally for mobile shopping. Over 50% of traffic to 11street is generated on mobile devices.
The mobile app is also one of Top 3 shopping apps on the Malaysian Google Play store.
For 2016, 11street will further focus on curated content with an improved UI/UX along with added personalized features.
HaHa makes an appearance
At the ‘LOVE 11’ celebration press conference, 11street premiered its new two-episode TV commercials. Starring Korean superstar Lee Min Ho and Malaysian actress Emily Chan, the TVCs will be aired nationwide via free-to-air TV and 11street’s YouTube channel, starting 16 November.
Singer/rapper HaHa also from popular Korean reality game show “Running Man” made an appearance at the event, performing two songs for screaming fans at Lot 10. Both HaHa and Emily Chan also gave away prizes and goodies to fans and attendees.
Consumers at the event enjoyed giveaways in form of 11,000 boxes of Pepero, 11street shopping coupons, prizes from contests, giveaways as well as product gifts from brand partners Sony, Samsung, Kinohimitsu, K-market, BONIA, Lenovo, NESCAFE, Thermos and WindRider.
