U Mobile joins the pre-order party for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ that starts off today 11 April until 13 April 2017. The pre-order freebies are consistent with what’s being offered officially by Samsung. However, there is a catch. They’re limited to only the first 100 customers.
The pre-order bundle includes the Limited Edition Starter Kit (screen protector, clear case, wireless charging stand and USB Type-C cable); a 5,100mAh battery pack and Samsung Protection Plus plan. This bundle is worth over MYR900.
It’s unclear why U Mobile is only offering the bundle for just the first 100 customers.
Like previously offered, the new devices are bundled with the orange telco’s Ultimate Device Plans (UD60, UD90, UD130) and not its excellent Hero Postpaid plan.
The Galaxy S8 starts from as low as MYR1,819 (before GST) and the bigger Galaxy S8+ goes for MYR2,159 (before GST).
All plans are tied to a 24-month contract, with an upfront payment of MYR360, MYR600 and MYR960 for the UD60, UD90 and UD130 plans respectively. The upfront payment will be rebated into your bill over a span of 24 months.
Here’s a breakdown of the different Ultimate Device Plans:
- UD60 – 5GB data, 3GB Video-Onz, Unlimited Music-Onz, Unlimited App-Onz, 60min calls.
- UD90 – 7GB data, 5GB Video-Onz, Unlimited Music Onz, Unlimited App-Onz, Unlimited voice calls to all networks
- UD130 – 10GB data, Unlimited Video-Onz, Unlimited Music-Onz, Unlimited App-Onz, Unlimited voice calls to all networks, Free 65 SMS to all networks.
The normal call rate is 9sen/30sec for on-net calls, and 15sen/30sec to other networks. SMS text messages are charged at 3sen per SMS (on-net) and 8sen each to other networks.
The 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 retails at MYR3,299 while the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+ is priced at MYR3,699. Available in Midnight Black, Orchid Grey and Maple Gold.
The pre-order promotion runs from 11-13 April 2017. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ will hit retail stores nationwide from 5 May 2017.
