According the leading Malay tech portal Amanz.my, Telekom Malaysia (“TM”) is all set to roll out its 4G LTE service soon named TMgo. A surprisingly unprotected link to the upcoming TMgo website was leaked. The next generation mobile service will feature two separate bundled devices – USB adapter and mobile router (MiFi).

Mid last year, The Edge reported that TM successful trial runs at 10 sites in Kedah. TM is the ninth entrant into the 4G LTE market. First phase of TM’s 4G LTE roll-out was expected to be in Q1 2014 with 250 sites, with a total of 500 sites planned nationwide. It is understood that TM’s 4G LTE network will run on 850Mhz frequency.

TMgo packages

The leaked site reveals two main TMgo packages starting from RM98 per month which includes a SIM Card, 4G LTE USB Adapter/MiFi router and 2GB pre-loaded quota, Free Super Bonus Quota of 500MB x 6 months and 30 day validity.

From the validity, we are anticipating this will be a prepaid/pay-as-you-go plan for starters.

The site is obviously still in development (with site errors thrown in too), so pricing is unlikely to be final. The coverage areas are also not available at this point although it has mentioned Pendang, Kedah and Melaka.

A mobile service will definitely fit TM’s existing fixed line and HSBB infrastructure. Exciting times ahead for consumers.
