Music lovers and Spotify fans should love this news bite. Maxis and leading music streaming service Spotify have announced an exclusive partnership. The two leaders in their domains have joined hands to bring the Spotify experience to all Maxis customers at an unbeatable price. Maxis is the first telco in the country to tie up with Spotify.
In the unprecedented move, Maxis prepaid and postpaid customers can now enjoy Spotify Premium service for only RM10 per month. Outside of this exclusive deal, Spotify Premium directly from Spotify costs RM14.90 (as opposed to US$9.99 outside of Malaysia).
Spotify Premium gives subscribers access to over 20 million tracks – available both online and offline. To complement the massive catalogue, Maxis is bundling 150MB of internet data together with the service. This data quota is separate from subscribers’ mobile data.

If you’ve already got a Spotify Premium subscription outside of the Maxis-Spotify offer, you will need to cancel your existing subscription first.
You will be billed RM30 for the first 3 months upfront and RM10/month for subsequent months.
The 150MB data bundle doesn’t seem a lot. After you’ve exhausted your quota, speeds will be throttled to 32Kbps until the next renewal cycle. You are however free to use the Spotify service over a Wi-Fi connection.
This is a fantastic move by Maxis and will definitely appeal to Spotify fans and music lovers out there. I will personally subscribe to this looking at the affordable price point. In fact, I believe this is one of the lowest Spotify Premium subscription rates in the world.
