Artist impression of Desmond @ Yap
I have some added information about the phone scam which happened last Sunday. Perhaps I should provide a description of the guy involved. Desmond the con man.
He’s about 5″ 9 or 5″ 10, slightly big sized, curly hair, dark skinned. Perhaps in early 40s. Well-spoken. Looks Chinese-Eurasian. And he calls victims via a 016 number.
A friend has just revealed to me that this conman has swindled him off RM50 a couple of years ago. His description of him is spot on. He targets primarily designers, so you designers and advertising peeps out there beware. My friend was conned around the Starhill area, so I presume he hangs around there a lot.
I am determined to catch this guy, so if anyone has any info on him or are able to provide pictures, I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks for the mugshot, Juan. The audio recording of his voicemail also confirms it. This IS the guy we so wish to find. And for the rest of the designers who have responded, thank you. Let’s get this guy. I’ve sent this mugshot to a friend who knows people in the Special Forces and has agreed to help. Let’s nail him and give him a good thrashing.

i’m very much impress with your pro-active attitude towards the desmond-the-conman case, which is unlike the usual malaysian pessimist reaction towards such crimes.

It was done by a fellow victim. Uncanny resemblance. FYI, I’ve tracked him down. Hope to nail him soon. Him and his accomplice. His days are numbered, really.
