With XOX Mobile it’s all about rewarding subscribers and partners

Today was a special day for XOX Mobile, one of Malaysia’s growing mobile virtual network operators (MVNO). Firstly, it announced winners of its highly successful Car Craze Campaign 2015 – an epic rewards program that saw some MYR500,000 worth of prizes given out. Next, a special appearance by XOX Mobile brand ambassador, Dato’ Lee Chong Wei. XOX Mobile also hit its one millionth subscriber milestone recently.


The Car Crazy Campaign 2015 was XOX Mobile’s largest rewards program that saw incredible participation. Prizes up for grabs included a Volkswagen Passat, three Volkswagen Polo sedans as well as 100 units of various tech gadgets. All in all, rewards worth over MYR500,000 were given out.

Malaysian badminton hero Dato’ Lee Chong Wei alongside XOX Bhd’s group managing director, Datuk Eddie Chai presented the prizes to the winners.

One million

XOX Mobile hit its one-millionth prepaid subscriber milestone recently, and a Pn. Siti Nor Halimatun Faridah binti Mansor from Kedah, was its millionth customer. Siti was rewarded with an iPhone 6S Plus and MYR500 credit. Her trade partner who registered her, En Mohamad Alif bin Jaafar received MYR5,000 cash.

In an industry as fiercely competitive as the telco industry, it takes more than merely cheaper plans and giving more data to customers. XOX Mobile thinks its strategy of building strong relationships with its customers and trade partners is the way it differentiates itself in the market.

Speaking at the launch, Datuk Eddie Chai said it’s not chasing exponential growth as he believes it jeopardises long-standing users. By rewarding its subscribers and trade partners constantly with vouchers, toll top-ups, and other goodies, it builds loyalty over time.


In line with its ‘rewards for all’ goal, XOX Mobile rewarded Dato’ Lee Chong Wei on his 11th Malaysian Open title, and his coaches Tey Seu Bock and Hendawan with cash rewards. XOX Mobile is believed to be one of the first telcos in Malaysia to reward coaches for the winning performance of the athletes they train.

The brand is also a strong supporter of local sports development. Aside from Dato’ Lee Chong Wei, it also collaborates with the Johor Southern Tigers football fan club on the exclusive Sembang Bola package.

1.2 million

As it stands, XOX Mobile serves over 1.2 million customers, with 99% being prepaid customers. In terms of marketshare it still lags behind other telcos, and specifically behind TuneTalk, amongst the MVNOs. XOX Mobile seems unfazed though, as it looks to building long term customers as opposed to trying to reap short term profits and marketshare.

28 months

XOX Mobile currently offers its prepaid customers unmatched prepaid validity of a minimum of 28 months, with a super low minimum top-up.
